When all the celebrities were busy regarding IPL and promotion of their films and throwing parties this man along with Makarand Anaspure started Naam Foundation to help the poor and drought ridden farmers. Laden with insurmountable loans, they were left with no choice rathern than commiting suicide. He stood beside them and donated almost 90% of his savings for uplifting the farmers.

He personally went to the seats of farmer widows and handed over cheques of Rs.15,000 in a small hall in Latur, Marathwada. During the distribution, there was a power cut for 5 minutes, people turned on the torch on their phones so that Nana Patekar could continue to distribute cheques.

He didn’t help them only once but to sustain the continuing support he established his foundation and garnered huge response from public and collected Rs. 22 crores from the people for farmer welfare. The foundation is aiming to fill back the dried lakes with water to provide drinking water to farmers and their families.On the first day of Nana Patekar’s foundation’s inauguration, it collected Rs 80 lakhs on Day 1. You can imagine the storm he has created.

4. He is very ambitious. He is more ambitious than any actor or actress because he is now planning to connect more than 700 in the areas of Nagpur, Latur, Hingoli, Parbani, Nanded, Aurangabad, etc. rather than focusing on mere entertainment.

5. He has served in Army for real!!! He had undergone strict army training for three years to perfect his role for Prahaar. He was also given the honorary rank of Captain. Even after the last shot for that movie, he had lent his services to the army, including a stint during the Kargil war.

6. He is real life example of simple living high thinking. What he has achieved is formidable and beyond imagination but he is not at all bothered about his own comfort. Though he can afford a luxurious life, Nana Patekar chooses to live in a 1BHK apartment with his mother.
